How to calibrate HDR display on Windows 11

Calibrate HDR monitor on Windows 11

You can install the tool from Command Prompt (admin) using the winget install --id 9N7F2SM5D1LR through the Windows Package Manager tool or the Microsoft Store.

To calibrate an HDR display on Windows 11, use these steps:

1. Open HDR Calibration on Windows 11.

   Quick note: You must enable HDR for the calibration process. You can do this from Settings > Display and turn on the “Use HDR” toggle switch.

2. Click the Get started button.

   

3. Use the slider to adjust the “minimum luminance” until the window isn’t visible.

   

4. Click the Next button.

5. Use the slider to adjust the “maximum luminance” until the window isn’t visible.

   

6. Click the Next button.

7. Use the slider to adjust the “max full frame luminance test” until the window isn’t visible.

   

8. Click the Next button.

9. Use the slider to adjust the “color saturation” until you notice the colors are right for you.

   

10. Click the Next button.

11. Confirm a name for the profile.

    

12. Click the Finish button.

13. Click the OK button.

Once you complete the steps, the system will create an HDR calibration profile and associate that profile with your display. Then, the system will automatically load the profile when you turn on HDR on that specific monitor.

If you have a multi-monitor setup, you will need to run the calibration tool on each display.
