There are times when you want to share content from your iPhone with other people but Wi-Fi is not available. Luckily, there are several workarounds available if that’s the case.
In this article, you will see how to mirror iPhone to TV without using a Wi-Fi connection.
Mirroring your iPhone to a TV using Apple Peer-to-Peer Airplay
the latest version of Apple TV, such as Apple TV 4K (2nd generation—2021) or Apple TV HD (Formerly Apple TV 4th generation—2015), will support Peer-to-Peer Airplay without Wi-Fi. If you have an Apple TV (3rd Generation Rev. A—2012), it must also run Apple TV Software 7.0 or later.
Also, you must have an iOS device that is at least a 2012 model or later. Also, it should be running iOS 8 at least. Unfortunately, Peer-to-Peer Airplay is not supported on earlier devices. You can still use screen mirroring on old devices, but a Wi-Fi connection is required.
If you have the necessary devices then Screen Mirroring via Peer-to-Peer Airplay is a simple process.
Peer-to-Peer Airplay works outside of Wi-Fi and may not work when your device is connected to a network. Therefore, it’s important to first disconnect your Apple TV and iOS from any Wi-Fi Networks and then reconnect to them.
Open Arrangement, choose Network, then choose Wi-Fi.If your Apple TV is connected to any network, it will appear on your TV screen. Select the name of the current Wi-Fi network, then select it Forget Network. On your iOS, open it Arrangement then choose Wi-Fi to view the current connection information. Click Forget Network to disconnect. Make sure that forgetting the network is complete so that the device doesn’t automatically reconnect to your Wi-Fi. You’ll need to remember the SSID and Wi-Fi password if you want to reconnect later.Do not proceed if you do not know your current Wi-Fi SSID or password, as mentioned in Step 4 above. Connect both devices to bluetooth because Peer-to-Peer Airplay is a wireless function that requires it. This step allows the two devices to communicate with each other. Activate Wi-Fi on your iOS device to use Peer-to-Peer Airplay. You don’t need to be connected, but it should be turned on. Playback Controls appear as Screen Mirroring in Control Center. If it doesn’t appear, try bringing the two devices closer together. If that fails, try restarting your iOS device. Tap Screen Mirroring. Your Apple TV must be registered. If you are asked for a connection password, it will appear on your TV screen. Enter the information to activate the feature.
When following all the steps above, you should be able to mirror your iOS screen to your TV using Peer-to-Peer Airplay.
Mirroring your iPhone to a TV using the Apple Lightning Connector to HDMI Port
Another method to mirror your iPhone screen is to connect the two devices using a cable. Apple Lightning connector connect the bottom port of your iPhone to an HDMI cable.
Plug the device into your phone’s Lightning port, plug the HDMI cable into your TV, then plug the HDMI cable into the Lightning Connector, and your screen is instantly mirrored to your TV.
This method is a quick and uncomplicated solution if you don’t mind dealing with all the wires. Plus, you don’t need an Apple TV to make it work either. As long as your TV has an HDMI port, this solution works fine. If you want to stop mirroring, unplug the cable.
There are other connector cables out there that aren’t official from Apple that you can use if you prefer. However, reliability and safety are not guaranteed. If you want to be sure that your device is protected from damage, we recommend sticking with official products.
